Have you ever had to withdraw from hydrocodone? I know I have, most of the time it was a weekly or monthly thing. We’ve all had that time when we couldn’t get the drug when we needed it. Those were the worst times. You could withdraw from hydrocodone in jail. I wouldn’t recommend that method as the best way to detox off hydrocodone. Under the medical supervision of a Dr. or medical facility is the best and safest way. Hydrocodone addiction withdrawal can cause severe depression, decreased respiration, confusion, and low blood pressure. Without proper medical supervision. The hydrocodone addict could go into seizures tremors, fever, body aches, and possibly even death. There are medications that a doctor can prescribe to help ease the pain of hydrocodone withdrawal. A treatment facility can take measures to prevent seizures and treat anxiety. Lorazepam and xanx are prescribed to help treat anxiety. During withdrawals from a hydrocodone addiction, a addicts blood pressure can rise and fall.Doctors. Can prescribe medication to help control your blood pressure and monitor your vital signs. That why its best to seek help from a medical facility if You choose to withdraw from hydrocodone. A lot of times when I was coming off a hydrocodone I would eat candy bars or other sweets to help ease the withdrawals.

Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is highly recommended for anybody that’s truly serious about coming off of hydrocodone and treating their addiction.Treatment is the addict’s opportunity to stay off the streets for a while get away from those people, places, and things in focus on the positive message. Take it from me it’s a better alternative than jail. My first rehab was the place where I was introduced to my first 12-step meeting.Even though I didn’t stay clean that time, It planted the seed of recovery in my head. It grew many years later, Rehab will give the hydrocodone addict the opportunity to attend 12-step meetings and individual counseling. The goal is to give the addict all the necessary knowledge and tools to succeed in the outside world once he or she is released from the treatment facility. Some rehabs prescribed continuous medication for opiate addicts to help with the withdrawal. I personally do not recommend that sort of therapy. I believe that an addict needs to learn from day one to start coping with life without drugs, whether there prescribed by a doctor or not.

Aftertreatment.

I believe the best kind of aftertreatment for any type of addicts is a 12-step program. There many available in your area. I also know people that have had great success with their religion and church. I totally support those as well, but for me a 12-step program is a form of church. Some rehabs offer or require you to complete an after care schedule. Usually that entails going to meetings or meeting with a counselor on a weekly or daily basis. It makes the addict accountable, which is something that we as addicts do not like to be. Later after many months or years of aftercare treatment, an addict may find himself returning to meetings to give back to the other people in the rehab like people before and gave them.
